Nigerian Puff Puff

Nigerian Food is dear to my heart – So obviously Nigerian Puff Puff is very dear to my heart. Today we’ll be talking about Nigerian Puff Puff, Nigerian Puff Puff is a very delicious meal made from cooked dough placed in a frying pan filled with oil. So the  dough basically sits in the pan for a couple minutes, it gets fried up and then it’s put on on newspapers and allowed to dry, it takes awhile, after all it just spent minutes soaking up oil.

Now this cookie dough generally has sugar inside and it’s obviously sweeter with sugar included, but sometimes people prefer it without sugar. This is basically Nigerian comfort food, I mean, every single culture has some form of fried dough  from East Africa to South Africa and I’m pretty sure Italians have some fried dough in their cuisine (Does Pizza Count?).

This is the sort of meal that you would eat as a snack, it’s not really considered a meal. You can have it with water or soda but generally people don’t drink this with wine, beer or any sort of alcohol. This sort of meal can come after a full plate of rice, chicken, stew –  you know, real food. It  can come after that as a sort of dessert but most people like to have it as an appetizer, It’s also popularly known as small chop.

Now as you can see in this picture there are some lighter pieces of puff puff that are lighter on one side and dark on the other, some people prefer their puff puff light. Some people prefer one over the other, me personally I don’t really mind as long as its soft and delicious (like Michael Jackson said, it don’t matter if you’re black or white).
